Flea Baths

  1. Fleas are tiny, blood-sucking parasites that irritate your dog and can also infest your home before you realize that fleas are all over your home. Your dog might start scratching, itching, biting, and licking. Some dogs also lose their hair, especially over the lower back, rear leg, and tail. These fleas can also cause yeast, bacterial, and skin infections to your furry-family. If your dog or cat has fleas, medication is a must. Getting the bugs off your pet is important, too.

    A Flea Bath can help to minimize the fleas in your pet and also soothes your dog from itching but it’s really stressful for them. Do you know that flea baths can also fun for them? Here are some helpful tips from “Wikihow” on have fun giving you dog a Flea Bath;

    Explore ways to make bath time fun for your dog. While bath time is usually thought of as a stressful activity for both dogs and people, there are small things you can do to make bath time fun. Find ways to show your dog how to associate bath time with happy memories.

My thoughts:

  • This is a great idea since a lot of dogs or cats that are scared of water and taking some baths. They fear the temperature that they don’t normally feel especially when water is splashing through their skins. We just have made them feel the fun in bathing so they will be comfortable whenever we want to take him to the bath.
  1. Use treats and toys. When you start bath time, try using treats and toys to help your dog enjoy herself. This can make bath time less stressful for both of you.

My thoughts:

  • Treats and toys also serve them as a reward so they know that they are doing a good job by staying as calm as possible while taking a bath. Since this is a flea bath, this is more stressful for them because we have to scrub them thoroughly so the fleas will go away. Make them happy playing or eating treats while you are scrubbing them.
  1. Maintain a positive attitude. Many people struggle to have fun because they get caught up in momentary hassles. Keep perspective and focus on the positives in the situation. A positive attitude can help you have fun despite troubling circumstances and if you're in a good mood your dog will feel happier and safer.

My thoughts:

  • It is important that we make our dogs feel happy and safer while taking a bath so they won’t be scared whenever they need to take it. We should avoid yelling and getting mad at them when we are giving them a bath or whatever the situation because most of the dogs also get traumatized when we are getting mad at them or yelling at them.

Just choose the right shampoo for fleas because there are a lot of flea shampoo on the market and select a brand that works with your dog. Each flea treatment shampoo has different instructions on how to use it so make sure you read it carefully and take note of how long leave the shampoo on. Some products are not compatible with bathing, and you should never wash the dog afterward. Such products need to be left to dry totally for 24 - 48 hours before the dog swims or has any contact with water. And of course, we should ask a medical expert or a veterinarian to seek proper medical advice on how we can remove these properly and to also make sure we won’t harm our lovely pets. It is always best to make our surroundings clean to prevent these parasites from spreading in our home.
